The studs quarters,

They can go outside,
there is a window and central heating in their room and it's
completely isolated.
The kittens are born in the bedroom. I'll
take the pregnant queen to bed with me around the time she could
give birth. Mostly they undersand what all the provisions are for
and automatically look for the place I had in mind for them.
It's a big (2 x 4 meters) cupboard , the
warmest part of the house and thay find it very cosy and fit for
their babies.
It has sliding doors with
mesh wire so I can supervise everything that happens is there.
By the time the babies
start walking I make a construction so the mothers can get out but
the kittens cannot.
When they are 4-5 weeks
old they move to the living room where they stay in a rabbit's fence
untill they climb out. Than the time has come they discover the
whole house and I have to watch my steps.

In 2011 I tried to make part of the garden "catproof "for the
girls , but experience learns me that I'm too afraid something
happens to them when I cannot see them.
In spring and winter I can
keep an eye on them, but in summer the plants are too high and I
don't always see them.
So , its the privilage of the boys
to play in the garden. They are far more managable than the
girls, they come when I call them.
Apart from that, the girls would
love to walk in and out, but it's very difficult to get then all
" in" at the same time.
And than we don't yet think about
all the kittens that might get lost......
